Overview
The wire and cable industry produces millions of kilometers of conductor annually for power transmission, telecommunications, automotive harnesses, and industrial control applications. Every meter of wire and cable must meet mechanical, electrical, and safety specifications defined by Indian and international standards.
JRAGRAU provides testing machines and load cells to wire drawing plants, cable manufacturers, and electrical testing laboratories across India. Our UTMs perform the tensile, elongation, and peel tests that are fundamental to wire and cable quality certification.
With machines ranging from 5 kN (fine wire testing) to 1000 kN (heavy conductor and wire rope), we cover the full spectrum of wire and cable testing requirements.
Conductor & Wire Testing
Copper and aluminum conductors must meet minimum tensile strength and elongation requirements per IS 8130, IS 398, and IEC 60228. JRAGRAU UTMs provide:
• Tensile strength — Breaking force divided by cross-sectional area, tested on individual conductors and complete cables • Elongation at break — Percentage elongation measured over a defined gauge length • Wrap test — Wire wrapped around mandrels to check for cracking or surface defects • Coiling test — For enameled and coated wires used in motor windings
Our S-Type load cells provide excellent low-force resolution for fine wire testing (conductors as thin as 0.1mm), while compression cells handle heavy-gauge conductors and complete cable assemblies.

Insulation & Jacket Testing
Cable insulation and jacket materials must withstand mechanical stress during installation and service. Testing requirements include:
Tensile and elongation — PVC, XLPE, and rubber insulation materials tested per IS 10810 / IEC 60811 before and after aging
Peel adhesion — Bonded insulation layers tested for peel strength to verify manufacturing quality
Hot set testing — Crosslinked insulation tested under load at elevated temperatures to verify crosslinking degree
Abrasion resistance — Cable jacket durability under mechanical abrasion
JRAGRAU UTMs with environmental chambers (optional) support both room temperature and elevated temperature testing of cable materials, meeting the full scope of IS 10810 and IEC 60811 requirements.
Production Quality Control
Wire and cable manufacturers operate continuous production lines where in-process testing is essential for quality control:
Inline tension monitoring — S-Type load cells measure wire tension during drawing and stranding operations, preventing wire breakage from excessive tension.
Take-up tension control — Load cells on coiling and spooling machines maintain consistent tension to prevent wire deformation.
Length measurement verification — Integrated measurement systems verify cable length accuracy for sales and customer delivery.
Batch sample testing — High-throughput UTMs in production labs test samples from every batch with automated reporting and statistical analysis.
JRAGRAU provides both standalone lab testing machines and integration-ready sensors for production line monitoring.
